There are many different reasons that you would want to visit a dentist. Whether you want to improve the look of your teeth or the overall health of your mouth it would make sense for you to visit a dentist. When you are looking for a good Ft Lauderdale dentist it is important to find a dentist who can give you the services that you are looking for. You may not know this but there are many different types of dentists that specialize in many different things. An orthodontist is a dentist that focuses on the structure and straightness of the teeth. He or she will use a variety of methods to create a set of teeth that fit together well and look straight. The only option that was available for many years was the latter or metal braces. These are a combination of metal ‘anchors’ and wires that are designed to move the teeth over time. Both methods are effective so depending on your situation your Ft Lauderdale dentist may suggest one over the other.
Another type of Ft Lauderdale dentist is an Endodontist. An Endodontist is a Ft Lauderdale dentist that focuses on keeping the inside of the teeth healthy and clean. There are certain types of tooth decay that will kill the nerves of the teeth and make it necessary for a root canal. A root canal is a procedure where the Ft. Lauderdale dentist will hollow out the nerves from the canal of the root. This procedure should be done by this specialized type of dentist and not a general Ft Lauderdale dentist.
Your teeth are some of the most important bones of your body. By taking care of these bones you will be able to keep your visits to your dentist to only your regular checkups. When you start to neglect the daily maintenance of your teeth you will start to have problems and most likely have to visit the dentist more often in order to get the problems taken care of. Make sure you are brushing and flossing your teeth multiple times a day and stay away from sugary drinks and foods as much as possible, these are not only bad for your body but also your teeth.

Types of South Kensington Dentists and Specialists
There are a wide variety of South Kensington dentists and dental specialists to choose from, depending on your unique needs. It is important to find the right South Kensington dentist or specialist for your situation to save you both time and trouble. While there are some dental practices like Kensington Dental that offer general, cosmetic and specialty dentistry, there are many South Kensington dental practices that do not.
In general, dentistry involves the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the gums, jaw, teeth, mouth and maxillofacial areas. The most common type of South Kensington dentist is a general practitioner, or someone who works with a general knowledge in all of the above areas. This type of dentist can take x-rays of your teeth, prescribe medication (including sedatives to take before an upcoming procedure you feel nervous about) and perform minor dental surgeries like simple root canals, tooth extractions and the treatment of cavities. There are also some dentists who specialise in working with children and adolescents—they are known as pedodontists or pediatric dentists.
One of the next most common types of South Kensington dentists is an orthodontist, or a dentist who specialises in correcting conditions like overbites, underbites and crooked or overlapping teeth. Officially, orthodontists are responsible for the straightening of teeth and the modification of certain types of facial and jaw growth. Orthodontists use specialty equipment like braces, headgears and retainers to correct these conditions.
Another common type of South Kensington dentist is an oral surgeon, or a dentist who specialises in complicated surgical procedures in the mouth. Oral surgeons can do anything from more complex tooth extractions and root canals to treating mouth cancers, tumors and cysts. Oral surgeons might also correct conditions like cleft palate, lip reconstruction and TMJ disorders, and may also work with accident victims to help reconstruct facial tissue or insert dental implants.
Cosmetic dentistry is also a popular specialty in South Kensington. Cosmetic dentists do procedures from teeth whitening to veneers to enamel shaping to dental implants. Although people may get braces to improve the way they look, cosmetic dentists do not work with braces.
Less common but still a prominent type of South Kensington dentist is the periodontist. A periodontist specialises is the prevention and treatment of gum disease. Periodontists may use surgical and non-surgical procedures to treat the periodontium, including maintaining and installing related dental implants.
One of the more rare South Kensington dentists is the endontist. An endontist specializes in performing difficult root canals. Endontists are also experts in diseases and disorders related to the dental tissue, known as pulp, that is at the root of our teeth.
Another rare type of South Kensington dentist is either a dental and maxillofacial pathologist or radiologist. A dental pathologist studies, diagnoses and occasionally treats dental and maxillofacial diseases. Likewise, a dental radiologist is an expert in reading and interpreting x-rays that relate to dental and maxillofacial conditions.
