Clinical Service of Chinese Medicine

The clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) faces three major challenges: (1) How to enhance its contribution on overall medical service quality? (2) How to best address the unmet medical needs in the contemporary society? (3) How to guarantee that the traditional perspective for disease diagnosis and treatment not be neglected in clinical practice?
Heritance and Practice of Chinese Medicine
Over a long period of time in traditional Chinese medical history, there have been many medical sub-disciplines in Chinese medicine. Current medical practice should continue taking advantage of the rich body of knowledge and developing ways to apply it to daily medical practice. Decades of research and practice have provided efficacy evidence of ancient herbal formulas in modern diseases. My deceased teacher, Master of traditional Chinese medicine, Dr. YUE Mei-zhong had advocated that Chinese medical practitioners need to “Learn from three late famous doctors, and emphasize clinical service”. The said three late famous doctors are Drs. ZHANG Zhong-jing, LI Dong-yuan and YE Tian-shi. Dr. YUE also pointed out that in clinical practice, one needs to exercise “careful observation, frequent analyses, cautious prescription, and constant information syntheses”. His motto as a physician is “life is vulnerable to any malpractice and one should always treasure patients’ life more than one’s own life”(1).
Chinese medicine considers human body as an intact system and the treatment approach focuses on improving the overall body system. Chinese medicine emphasizes on the holistic idea and utilizes the differentiation of syndromes. For example, physicians in northern China may use the formulas of activating blood-circulation for the treatment of coronary heart disease(2), yet physicians in southern China may prefer to use the formulas of deleting-phlegm for the same disease(3). Each treatment is acceptable and the key attention is the safety and efficacy. Examples similar to this are numerous in the practice of Chinese medicine.
Improvement of Chinese Medicine Practice
There has not been a general guideline for practicing Chinese medicine. For modern medicine, efficacy and safety data from clinical studies, preferably large-scale and long-term studies, are served as the primary basis for the development of clinical practice recommendations or guidance. As information on new therapies or new information on existing treatment becomes available, the recommendations or guidance may be updated or modified as needed. Practice of Chinese
medicine follows thoughts and experiences collected from individual physicians, which emphasize visualization, single case analyses, personal experience, and intellectual analyses and hypotheses. Modern medicine focuses on randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies, but Chinese medicine stresses on single case study and treats each individual on a case-by-case basis(4). Understanding the fundamental differences between modern medicine and Chinese medicine, it is worth to raise the question of whether guidance for practicing Chinese medicine needs to be formulated and what would be the process going forward(5).
In addition to clinical practice guidance, a number of other limitations need to be addressed. These include (1) correct identification of the origin of crude herbs; (2) quality control of modified herbs; (3) standardized decoction methods; (4) proper usage of patent drugs; (5) collection and analyses of adverse drug reaction (ADR); and (6) proper evaluation of clinical effects, etc. A set of regulatory guidance should be developed to facilitate quality control of herbal medications as well as the conduct of clinical studies.
Finally, clinical practice of Chinese medicine should continue carrying forward the scientific approach. No false advertisements from some pharmaceutical companies and Chinese medicine practitioners are to be tolerated. Regulatory agencies and local government should enforce tight control on any such conduct and ensure a good public image of the clinical service of Chinese medicine(6).

An Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine
When you hear about Traditional Chinese Medicine, what is the first thing that pops into your mind? Odd stuff in jars in dark smoky rooms where equally odd old men mutter strange incantations in Chinese as they burn incense in a pot? Actually, there may actually literally be such places and maybe they do practice some form of Traditional Chinese Medicine too – but in these modern times, Traditional Chinese Medicine can also mean medicine that is practiced by even Western followers of the traditional ways of treating patients as the Chinese have learned all these centuries. And for such Western practitioners, Traditional Chinese Medicine may not mean burning incense as well but rather keeping rather immaculate and clinical treatment rooms where any modern patient would feel comfortable being treated for whatever is ailing him.

Find Chinese medicine degree programs in the United States and Canada. Chinese medicine degree programs are becoming more and more popular. Students interested in enrolling in one of several Chinese medicine degree programs will find that a great number of alternative and Oriental medicine schools offer these programs, and certificate courses.
For example, students participating in Bachelor of Applied Science Chinese medicine degree program will gain a wealth of knowledge and skills in complementary medical systems (Chinese medicine and Western medicine) entailing coursework and practical training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage therapy (Tuina – Chinese medical massage), and nutrition. In addition to clinical subjects, students participating in Chinese medicine degree programs will acquire in-depth knowledge about anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theories and history.
Students may also engage in a masters of science in Oriental medicine course. This Chinese medicine degree program provides students with a four-year curriculum that trains future practitioners in classical Chinese medicine; preparing candidates to become licensed in the art of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. In many cases, most states require national certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) prior to attaining licensure.
Furthermore, if you’re like most ambitious students, you can opt to enroll in a dual Chinese medicine degree program where you can attain both your degree in classical Chinese medicine and in naturopathy. These Chinese medicine degree training programs do require a fair amount of time and dedication; often lasting about 6 years in duration. In addition, like many conventional degrees, earning your Chinese medicine degree at one of several healing arts schools often means that you must have had attained prior formal education and training from one of several traditional colleges and/or universities.
If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding Chinese medicine degree programs, let education within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.

Find Chinese medicine education in the United States and Canada. Chinese medicine education offered through several acupuncture schools and other Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) schools include certificate programs that are comprehensive, and can enhance your professional aspirations.
A good example of one of the many certificate programs extended through an in-depth Chinese medicine education is the certificate in Chinese herbal medicine (CCHM). This Chinese medicine education program is a postgraduate course for licensed acupuncturists and covers a tremendous curriculum that includes Chinese medicine education in botany, Chinese medical terminology, herbal formulation and therapeutics, Chinese medicine principles and theories, and other related subject matter. Though each school varies in its Chinese medicine education; a number of these programs average about 62 credits.
Other certificate programs offered through Chinese medicine education courses are the Asian bodywork and Qigong courses. Chinese medicine education in these subjects encompass practical training and academics in a range of topics including but not limited to TCM theories, anatomy, qigong, clinical bodywork, shiatsu, biomechanics, kinesiology, Thai massage, Tuina, and other related studies. In many instances, successful students who have completed all bodywork training requirements are awarded Tuina and shiatsu massage certificates.
In addition, some Chinese medicine education courses are extended through home-study programs, as well as in-class studies. These certificate and continuing education programs include courses in herbology. In this Chinese medicine education course, students are introduced to Chinese herbal medicine, pathology, tonic herbs and formulation, and many more associated topics of interest.
Furthermore, several alternative healing schools will provide Chinese medicine education certificate and/or diploma courses in Oriental medicine nutrition, skin care, wellness and acupressure.
If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding appropriate Chinese medicine training to help attain your dream job, let education within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.

The Greenhouse Effect – What Is It?
When most people talk about the greenhouse effect they are referring to what has happened to our planet due to the manmade addition of gases to the atmosphere. These gases were released by the burning of fossil fuels such as petroleum, natural gas, and coal. It’s as if a blanket was thrown over the planet. That blanket is now keeping the upper layers of the atmosphere colder and the lower layers warmer.

Health Benefits of the Chinese Green Tea Diet

]]>
Dating back more than 4,000 years, Chinese green tea diet has been long revered as a tasty drink that can ward off diseases and improve one’s well-being. There are only a few herbs that can surpass its impressive history.
Since its first recorded use during the time of Emperor Shen Nung, the link between Chinese green tea diet and good health has never been severed. Today, further studies are made to test the benefits of the remarkable health elixir.
Traditional Health Benefits of the Diet
According to tradition, this diet could cure anything from headaches, body aches, and pains to constipation and depression. Over the centuries, more health claims are made on account of the Chinese green tea diet.
It detoxifies the body. The presence of polyphenols, a naturally occurring antioxidant in this particular tea, is said to combat harmful free radicals and help keep the body free from diseases. In this regard, Chinese green tea helps maintain the overall well-being of the body. It fights against the anti-aging process because the antioxidants can boost immunity, preserve young-looking skin, and brighten the eyes.
Additional health benefits of the green tea is it increases the blood flow throughout the body. Because it contains a little caffeine, ingesting this drink stimulates the heart and allows the blood to flow more freely through the blood vessels. For the same reason that tea stimulates blood flow, it also stimulates mental clarity.
For many years, men of science remained skeptical about the health claims made by Chinese green tea diet enthusiasts because the health benefits are truly vast in number. Their doubt was changed to a more positive reception when subsequent researchers proved its disease-preventing attributes and confirmed most of the health claims.
The Heart
Study after study has shown that drinking green tea and eating polyphenol-rich foods reduces the risk of any heart complications. It helps strengthen the blood vessels that provide oxygen and valuable nutrients to the heart and brain. It has also been researched that men who use the diet have a 75 percent less possibility of having a stroke than those who don’t use the diet.
The green tea diet helps lower total cholesterol levels and improve the ratio between LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol. Study shows that men who drink nine or more cups of Chinese green tea daily have lower cholesterol levels than those who drink fewer than two cups. While nine cups may seem a lot, break it up through out the day and you’ll realize it’s not that difficult to drink that many cups. You could have one during and after each meal and during your breaks.
You really need to learn more. The Silent Killer Exposed uncovers and gives you the information you need to maintain a healthy blood system. Visit it here now.
Longevity
The role of the ‘Chinese diet’ in promoting longevity has been investigated upon by many researchers. They found the premise of their study on observing Japanese women who are greater-than-average green tea drinkers; have lower mortality rates compared to others. This led the researchers to believe that the diet has “a protective factor against premature death.”
The polyphenols found in the diet may be held accountable. With its high amount of polyphenols, it seems to have a stimulating effect on the immune system. A stronger immune system as a result of drinking the green tea helps reduce risks of obtaining many illnesses.
If these health benefits of doing the Chinese green tea diet don’t motivate you to start drinking this miracle in a cup, chances are you’ll never become motivated to loose weight. So start today and drink up. The health benefits go well beyond weight loss!

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal Medicine
]]>
Although Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is common medical care throughout Eastern Asia, it is certainly not considered a “traditional” medicine in more Western societies. TCM is typically considered an alternative medicine, or alternative therapy, despite its long history of proven healing techniques.
Chinese herbal medicine is a major aspect of TCM, focusing on restoring, treating and preventing imbalances within the body. Believing that the body, mind and universe are interconnected, Chinese herbal medicine seeks to keep the body balanced and in a state of harmony. It embraces the concept of wellness and seeks to restore the body to its natural state and attain complete wellness. It is a completely holistic approach to healing.
Practitioners of Chinese herbal medicine focus on maintaining health through restoration of a balance among body, spirit and energy, rather than treating a specific disease, ailment or condition. Herbs are a major aspect of Chinese herbal medicine, nourishing the body as part of the balance restoration process. As opposed to traditional medicine, Chinese herbal medicine treats patterns of symptoms and complaints expressed by the patient rather than diagnosing what is believed to be the cause. What we may consider a cause in Western thinking, is merely a symptom according to Chinese medicine. Chinese herbal medicine is also used to prevent diseases from occurring, by treating certain inconveniences one may feel, yet can’t be measured by conventional medicine, before a full on disease results.
Chinese herbal medicine uses a specially formulated combination of different herbs and plant extracts to return the body to a state of balance. Some common herbs are becoming more well-known, such as Ginkgo, Green Tea and Ginseng; yet the healing power behind these herbs remain under-acknowledged. Herbal formulas are claimed to treat and prevent infections, hormone imbalances and other diseases, while some practitioners have even claimed to be able to treat and prevent certain life threatening diseases when used in combination with more traditional treatment.
Those in the Western World have really underestimated the power of Chinese herbal medicine for far too long. As a result, so many today continue to struggle with common ailments, failing health and an ongoing pursuit of wellness. Fortunately, researchers and scientists are finally beginning to give some proper attention to Chinese herbal medicine and reconsider their original views on its healing power. All Chinese herbal remedies used in the Western World have shown positive results in clinical trials. Isn’t it time that modern medicine do what is truly in the best interest of its patients? Wellness can be achieved. Balance can be restored. Health can be achieved and diseases prevented. Conventional medicine needs a change. Perhaps it should look in the mirror and see that, as Chinese herbal medicine knows, a body imbalanced in spirit, energy and body will result in nothing less than disease and poor health not curable by prescriptions, painkillers and medical drugs.

Chinese traditional medicine has been well known for its safety and effectiveness. Basically, Chinese medicine is based on a wide concoction of different herbs strategically and carefully blended and combined to balance the flow of energy in the body. The concept of energy flow Yin Yang is what differentiates the old Chinese way of medicine. As such, it is also the major factor that makes the medicine traditional, non-conventional and simply alternative.
Through time, people and civilizations all around the world have recognized the potency and effectiveness of the popular Chinese medicine. There are major Chinese herbs that are starting to be used independently as a form of medicine. The use of organic herbal medicine has been known the world over. In fact, many forms of home remedies that have been in use for centuries are influenced by the popularity of Chinese herbal medicine.
As the science of modern medicine advances, technology and pharmaceuticals also underwent major changes. In the medicine industry, almost all treatments and drugs nowadays are made of chemicals and synthetics made and designed to provide basic nutrients. These modern medicines are also proven to be effective. The only setback is that such treatments are never free of severe and unlikely side effects. That is what makes Chinese medicine preferred by a greater number of people.
In the United Kingdom, Springherb is one of the most popular distributors of Chinese medicinal products. The company is operating at its headquarter and basic base Newark shop in Nottinghamshire. The company is known to provide products and services like acupuncture and massage. On top of that, Springherb is best known to sell the most popular and effective Chinese herbal medicines.
Springherb has the most effective and popular Chinese herbal medicines for skin health, weight loss efforts, relaxation and mood boost and pin problems. There are also herbs to aid digestion, to serve as hair tonic, to improve health of the ears, the eyes and the throat and to improve the efficiency and potency of the immune system.
The company claims to be a Chinese herbal products specialist and it is finding ways to uphold and prove that claim. In history, you know that such treatments are already very much a part of the traditional culture in the mainland. Major Chinese philosophies are also imbibed and formulated based on the major functions of such herbs.
Springherb assures that the products in its lineup are all reflective of the basic Chinese medicine theory. Thus, expect that the treatments and remedies are very much balanced and are promoting and inducing basic and healthy equilibrium of the human body’s energy and nutrient flow. In the Western countries like the United Kingdom and many other European nations, people and medicine practitioners are starting to shift focus to the traditional Chinese herbal treatments because of the medicine’s very minimal side effects and of course , because of effectiveness and potency.
Springherb offers a wide range and lineups of Chinese herbal medicine products. Some are very much traditional while others are patented. The manufacturers of the products Springherb distributes are all the most reliable and credible there are across the market.
To buy Chinese medicinal products suited for you, visit the company’s store at Newark or call telephone number 01636-706892. You could also place orders at the company’s official Website at http://www.springherb.co.uk/. In the online site, there are product brochures that would help you find and identify the specific Chinese medicinal products appropriate for your needs.
The Website is epically designed and developed to function just like ordinary and popular Internet shopping sites work. You could cerate a shopping account wherein you could create a cart where your needed and eyed products for purchases are accumulated. Payments are made through credit cards and the credit card account transactions are safely secured by Pay pal and Pretax.
Check out the latest and most effective Chinese herbal medicine products now at Springherb.

One part of Traditional Chinese Medicine that many Westerners may have heard of is acupuncture which is closely related to acupressure. Both acupuncture and acupressure are based on the premise that throughout our body certain points exist at which energy might be strongest. When the Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner finds some energy points to be “blocked”, he might prescribe a round of acupuncture (meaning, sharp sterile needles are inserted at such pressure points to release your vital energy that has been blocked there), or simply press down on the pressure points in a prescribed way so that the blocked energy finds itself flowing again through your body and the ailment is relieved. Though some Westerners may find this Traditional Chinese Medicine belief to be a bit strange, many other Western medical practitioners now advocate these two Traditional Chinese Medicine practices and may even use them in their own clinical practice.
Depending on who you talk to, Traditional Chinese Medicine may be considered either a form of alternative medicine or a form of complementary medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine may be a type of alternative medicine in that you can opt for Traditional Chinese Medicine practices rather than the conventional Western style of medical treatment – thus you chose an alternative. Traditional Chinese Medicine practices become complementary medicine when you allow both a Western style of medical treatment and the Traditional Chinese Medicine practices to be used side by side at the same time when you are undergoing treatment for your ailment. It may be easier to determine the efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine when you opt to have it by itself, rather than mixing it with other forms of treatment. This is because the symptoms of your ailment might get relieved under a complementary medicine type of treatment program so you might get confused as to which treatment option really worked for you.
Not surprisingly, many people of Oriental lineage are strong believers in Traditional Chinese Medicine and may eschew modern ways of treatment so that they can favor Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment options alone for themselves and their loved ones. Is this good? It depends on the ailment – there are some ailments that modern ways of treatment seem to have been very effective at treating (such as cancer) for which there is little evidence that Traditional Chinese Medicine can cure. If you want to be sure of getting well, you may want to pursue Traditional Chinese Medicine only after modern scientific ways of diagnosing an illness have failed to show what you are really ill with. There is some evidence of a so-called placebo effect when complementary medicine methods are used where modern treatment practices have failed to give the desired cure.

The Role of Qigong in Traditional Chinese Medicine
One Traditional Chinese Medicine practice that Westerners may find intriguing is the breathing discipline called Qigong (also dubbed chi kung by others.) This Traditional Chinese Medicine practice is related to the concept of the role of your body energies play in influencing the actions of your body in coordination with specified breathing patterns. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, ailments may result when bodily energies are trapped or constrained in a certain way and need to be released so that your body remains in a state of balance or wellness. This Traditional Chinese Medicine belief is related to the concept of Yin and Yang, which is said to be integral to how the elements of the universe are made up within your body – when Yin seems to be too strong, for instance, then Yang becomes too weak. To achieve wellness, you need to bring both Yin and Yang energies back into harmony within your body. Qigong is the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice that aims to facilitate harmonization of your energies which seem to be (as the Westerners put it) “out of whack.”

Should I Take the Xiao Yao Wan Chinese Herbal Anti-depressant?
The Xiao yao wan Chinese herbal anti-depressant is meant to relieve the problems that are associated with stagnation of the Qi (or chi vital energy) in your liver which is believed to be the cause of depression in people. The symptoms that will show a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner that your liver Qi has been trapped in that vital organ are: swollen breasts, and painful and irregular menstruation in women, a tendency to become depressed or upset easily, and (in some people) a tendency to sense a distending pain concentrated in the chest and sides of your body. If you have any or all of these symptoms, ask your doctor if you should take the Xiao yao wan Chinese herbal anti-depressant.

Ginger – One of the Most Commonly Recognized Chinese Herbs
When people speak of exotic Chinese Herbs, we usually may not think of the common cooking ingredient called ginger as being one of these Chinese Herbs – but yes, it is. What we use as a cooking ingredient would be the so-called edible root of the plant which in reality is not a root but rather a rhizome. Though ginger is acknowledged to have its roots in China, this is one of the most commonly recognized Chinese Herbs around because ginger is now also cultivated widely in other Asian countries, India, West Africa, and even in the Caribbean.

What is Cordyceps Sinesis and Why Should I Use It?
Cordyceps sinesis is sometimes known as the Chinese fungus called Cordyceps; or Caterpillar Fungus. It can also be considered to be the Yarchagumba Herb which grows in Nepal, in the subalpine pasture areas of that country. It is called Yarchagumba after the parasitic fungus that is valued for its tonic and aphrodisiacal properties in medicine. Some medical practitioners consider the Cordyceps sinesis very good for lessening phlegm, halting hemorrhage (otherwise called profuse bleeding), boosting your vitality and energy levels; and enhancing the resistance of your kidneys and lungs to disorders.

Chinese Medicine Careers Today
Chinese Medicine Careers Today
Find Chinese medicine careers in the United States and Canada. With the development of integrative and complementary medicines, Chinese medicine careers are on the rise. Traditional Chinese medicine including Tuina, acupuncture, and herbal medicine make up some of the broad practices that are integrated into Chinese medicine careers.
According to the National Center of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Chinese medicine careers in acupuncture are among the most popular CAM practices in the United States. In a report published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Chinese medicine careers in acupuncture are “being widely practiced by thousands of physicians, dentists, acupuncturists, and other practitioners – for relief or prevention of pain and for various other health conditions.”1
Chinese medicine careers encompass a vast array of natural healing techniques and modalities, including meridian therapy, Tai Chi, Qi gong, Chinese medical massage (Tuina), acupuncture, herbology, moxibustion (cupping), and related health and wellness methods.
While Chinese medicine careers can be quite lucrative, it is critical to understand that proper training and education is of utmost importance. Today, prospective candidates interested in pursuing Chinese medicine careers must have substantial instruction (and licensure, depending on specific field) in order to practice professionally. If you’re one of many students drawn to this ancient healing art, it is wise to carefully review state educational requirements and regulations regarding Chinese medicine careers.
